Doesn't it surprise you to see how much pretence abused and violated women have to put up just to 'fit in' in our societies, where it is a taboo to own up to been abused?
Record shows that African women have successfully embedded violence into their day to day lives, so much that it is no longer seen as a problem. Even in the worst situations some will still prefer to identify with their assailant than to openly declare the deed.
My fear is that if care is not taken, violence on women and girls will continue into the future. And our children, grand and great grand children would still not have learnt that women are no lesser beings than men.
The more people spreading the words on gender equality in Africa the better. So join in the campaign and spread the words, encourage your battered friend, neighbour, sister, mother, whoever to break the silence on domestic violence and Violence against women And Girls.
Together we can change our world.
